How Remarkable Women Lead' Inspired Me to Dream Big

Being a woman is rough, we just want to get through a day's work without being bothered by the ignorance of misogyny. Forever questioned of our knowledge and reminded of our presence in male-dominated spaces. It's a learning process I grabbed this book a few years ago at MSMU's annual Women's Leadership Conference where ladies shared stories on their paths to success.

When I read this book, I was on the cusp of graduating and it helped me visualize myself in more powerful positions. Clarifying the subtle sexism that exists in the workplace and prepared me for when I experience it first hand. Despite the obvious lack of representation of diverse women in decision-making careers, the book focuses more on how these women move in these spaces.

One of my favorite takeaways from this read was "the thing that is really hard and really amazing is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself." What I love about this book is that it focuses on the importance of staying authentic. Personally, I wish there were more women of color represented, but overall it reveals fundamental knowledge from women who are in top ranking positions. An inspiring book for girls graduating school wondering what their next move should be.

While I enjoyed reading this out of college, I don't know that I would read it again but I would definitely recommend it as a read for boss ladies. Although I do my best to build my brand and create my own business, I understand I have a long way to go. However, reading about these strong women is motivation to keep going. So if you're looking for tips on leadership and life, this is the one for you.

If you end up reading this book let me know, I'm interested in hearing what you think about it.
