Quick Trip To Arizona
I didn’t know that Arizona was a cactus heavy state, but it makes sense. It’s hot, dry and you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere. At any moment you think you’ll be blown away by a tumble weed. We spent a quick weekend in AZ to watch a 49er vs. Arizona Cardinal game. We rode rent-a-scooters for the first time, did Halloween karaoke at a weird bar in Tempe and climbed rocks to see a cool hole.
Cardinal stadium was dope, it has a college like vibe to the fans and the arena has an open roof. One of our friends from high school is a cheerleader and it was cool seeing her in action. While I grew up on football, the NFL puts me off. With all the suppression in its underlying system, it felt natural to rep Kapernicks “Know Your Rights” Jersey. My ode against racism and social injustices despite having bought these tickets for a birthday getaway celebrating Markie’s dad. In a way, I felt that I had abandoned my beliefs by going to the game but in the end I like to think I made a statement. Although I was there to enjoy a day with my boyfriends family, I could still wear a shirt to represent how I truly felt. I could hate the NFL for cutting Kap off but appreciate the sport that made his career.
After a long day at the game, we found a cool pizza bar playing hip hop and spent the rest of the evening there. Other than that there wasn’t much to do and not a lot to see. I’m looking forward to coming back for spring training to see the Dodgers and camp out to take some stellar star photos.
